Famlies at GLC "training" program

In September, we packed up the family for another trip and headed to the border to put on an Advanced Good Life Club training. We partnered with a group from the UK called Amor Europe (formerly Urban Saints) who we have been able to work with for the last several years.

The purpose of the training is to help children's workers understand how to work with children better by putting on more organized, engaging programs, rooted in God's love.

We had about 20 students (2nd year Rangers and some Junior instructors) that went through the training, plus Amor organized a similar training to happen simultaneously for students from a local Bible school, at the same location.

learning games

The students learned lots of new games (and how to teach them clearly), songs, and spiritual dramas. I think in total we learned or demonstrated about 15-20 dramas! I thought the most helpful part of this was teaching a creative introduction that would grab the kids attention and interest. The Amor team had so many good and varied examples that we all learned.

We talked a lot about how God uses children in the Bible and what He thinks of them.

reading Bible stories

We read lots of Bible stories and talked about what children could learn from them as well. Many of our students have limited Bible knowledge, so it was interesting to walk through the process with them and be able to share a lot of God's word and gospel.

GLC final program

At the end of the week we invited a local village to come to our training site for a program. Our students were broken up into four teams and each team practiced their program for the community. We were pleasantly surprised with how well the students applied what they learned.

We were very pleased with how the training went and with our continued partnership with Amor Europe. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed making a new contact with the local Bible School as well. Thank you for all your prayers and support!

(Stay tuned for a few more updates from this fall coming soon! We had limited internet for several weeks and didn't have the opportunity to get updates out until now!)
