This year has been a really hard year to write about. A lot has gone on, but for security reasons we can't really share all the details we normally would. We have been very busy though with trainings, travels, fitness tests, child wrangling, and trying to adapt to all the changes in the world today.
We recently got back from a trip that was very life giving. We were able to visit an area we haven't been able to go to as a family for a year and a half! My heart desperately missed all of our friends there and the work that we usually do. It was an intense trip to travel there and even once there, the risks felt heavy at times, but I am so happy we got that time.
We have a quick turn around now as we've confirmed last minute plans to return to the USA for four weeks. We will return to attend my grandfather's memorial service in Seattle in December and also take the opportunity to apply for new visas for Adam and the girls.
VISAS: I feel like a broken record sometimes since we always seem to have visa challenges, but I (Aimee) was finally granted a long term visa in Thailand, while my family were all denied as my dependents. The normal process for this type of visa is to receive it from outside the country and then to activate it upon entering Thailand. When we returned last year in November, only Tourist visas were being admitted so my family has continued to renew a special COVID tourist visa for the last year. It will be good for them to finally get on our long term visa again which they can apply for in the USA. The special COVID tourist visa will be discontinued at the end of this month.
AMERICA:
November 27-Nov 30 Eugene, OR
December 1- Dec 8 Bend, OR
December 9- Dec 12 Tacoma, WA
December 13-Dec 28 Bay Area, CA
(Dec 13-15 possibly Sacramento, CA)
We won't have very much time to see people this round since its so quick, but please send us a message if you think our schedule will work with yours to get together! We have really missed our friends and family in America. We hope that if all works out, we can come for a longer period in the summer and share more about what we have been doing this year.
Please pray for our visa situation- that it will come together smoothly and it won't effect our work so much as it has in recent years. Please pray for our crazy travel schedule, flights with kids, and health as we move around. Traveling can be a bit overwhelming these days with all the new requirements and we are busy with paperwork, appointments, research, bookings, etc.
For all those interested, we have a link to an REI gear wishlist after the photos. Happy Thanksgiving to you all and hope to see you in December :)
